Bonzo the bulldog first debuted in 1922 as a cartoon character made by British comic strip artist, George Studdy. He quickly rose to fame around the globe about the same time as Felix the Cat. These chalkware figurines were passed out as carnival prizes in the ‘20s and ‘30s. Pretty awesome prize compared to the cheap fire-starters ya get today!
