Agate Gator

I was in Florida on vacation a while ago and while my friends were lounging at our Airbnb, I decided to take a walk by the pond that was right across the street. While enjoying the scenery, a man (a stranger) approached me with his dog. He asked where I was from and I told him Wisconsin, to which he replied, “What a coincidence! So am I!” (Gains trust via familiarity). He allows me to pet his dog (more trust) and then asks me if I want to see an alligator he spotted “just around the corner” (the lure). Having never seen an alligator outside of a zoo, I was all, “YEAH,” and took about two steps with him until STRANGER DANGER flashed through my head. I nervously changed my mind and said that my friends would want to see it with me so I should probably head home. I escaped. My instincts may have been delayed, but at least they kicked in eventually so I could one day thrift this alligator for you.
